Are you looking for the best Indian web series for binge-watching? If yes, then you have landed on the right page because here I am going to talk about the ten best Indian web series of 2020. Keep in mind that this list of best Indian web series is based mainly on the Hindi language. That’s why I didn’t include any web series from other regional languages. So, without any delay, let’s get started-

Recently, due to the Covid-19 outbreak in India, PM Modi announced a 21-day lockdown. Because of that, most people have to stay in their homes to maintain social distancing. Now, what would be a better idea to pass this time other than binge watch web series in our local language?

I am a big fan of watching web series and movies, and because of that, I started writing this blog. So, I decided to create a list of the ten best Indian web series to watch in 2020. Now keep in mind that this list is entirely based on my personal experience. But I also checked reviews of other film critics on review websites like IMDB, Rotten Tomato, and others before listing all the web series.

So, here are my pick of best Indian web series of 2020-

10 Best Indian Web Series to Watch in 2020

The web series in this list is a mixed-up collection of some of the best masterpieces created by Indians. I have not sorted them according to their genre or anything else. So, here are the best Hindi web series that you can watch right now-

The Family Man

The very first Indian web series on the list is non-other than “The Family Man.” The story starts with introducing a middle-class man who works for the special crime cell of the National Investigation Agency. It is an action-drama kind of web series where he goes on the mission of protecting the Nation from the terrorists while maintaining his family from ups and downs created because of his high-pressure, secretive, low paying job.

The Family Man – Best Indian Web Series

The story is well written and well-directed, and it just never let your eyes off for even a second. Another thing that I liked about this web series is the comedy part that the writer has included in it. Also, the actors have acted pretty well, especially Manoj Bajpayee. So far, it has become one of my favorite Indian web series.

Mirzapur

The next Indian web series on our list is “Mirzapur.” It is a story set in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. The story portrayed as being that area is run by mafia dons, and they can go to any extent for getting into power. The story starts with Akhandananda Tripathi, aka Kaleen Bhaiya, who has made millions by exporting carpets and, with the help of that money, became the Mafia boss of Mirzapur. The story walks around Kaleen Bhaiya, his son Munna, and two brothers Guddu and Bablu Pandit.

Mirzapur – Best Hindi Web Series

The story and dialogues of the series are well written. It has enough twist and turns that every time betrays your predictions about the characters, and that makes it an incredible crime and drama thriller. It is a must-watch Indian web series if you love to watch such kind of stuff.

Asur

Asur is an excellent crime-thriller with a bit of Indian mythological reference. The web series travels back and forth in a period of 18 years. The storytelling and direction of this web show let you connected and hold your attention throughout the end. You will not feel bored for even a single second.

The story showcases the collision between the good and the evil. The antagonist of the movie became a serial killer because of the mistreatments of his father due to his religious beliefs. His father believes that he is an ‘ASUR’ because he born in the ‘Asura Nakshatra.’ On the other hand, there are two forensic experts seen hunting the killer.

Sacred Games

Sacred Games was the first Indian web series produced by Netflix. This crime drama thriller offers a non-linear storyline that holds the viewer’s attention throughout the story. In my opinion, it is definitely the best Hindi web series on Netflix.

The best acting from the cast, and the clever writing makes it an excellent web series. The entire story is based on the novel of Vikram Chanda’s Sacred Games. Even after having a simple storyline, the visual craftsmanship and brutal scenes make it different from other crime dramas.

Kota Factory

Kota Factory is based on the life of IIT Aspirants living in KOTA for the preparation of IIT. It shows all their struggle and their pressure of exams to perform better than the others. The reason why I loved this web series because it has something that you can relate to you.

Even two of the characters of this web show are ex-IITan, Jeetu Bhaiya, and Meena. Another thing that distinguishes it from others is their black and white production choice. The acting and camera work are just excellent. If you are a student, then I highly recommend you watch this web series.

The Forgotten Army

History is whose story? Obviously of the winners, because they wrote it. When you read history, then there are chances that you cannot get all the sides of the story. Unfortunately, that is the vested nature of history. Similarly, in between the Dandi March and Hunger Strikes of Gandhiji, the contribution of the Indian National Army, aka The Azad Hind Fauz, got missing.

The story of The Forgotten Army is based on them. It is the story of those 60,000 men and women who gave up on their lives, went on a journey on foot from Singapore to Burma became refugees in their own country. It is a story that will give you goosebumps and make you feel sad at the same time.

Apharan

The next Hindi web series on our list is Apharan. It is yet another crime thriller but with a retro feel. If you enjoy watching murder mysteries sort of content with clever writing, a bit of humor, and raw use of language for dialogues, then you’ll definitely enjoy this one as well.

The thing that makes it unique is the location they chose to shot the series. They decided to use real locations that work pretty well in their favor.

TVF Pitchers

If you are a student or working in a company, then TVF Pitchers is a must-watch for you. It is a web series that entirely revolves around the startup culture of India. The story moves around four best friends who have left their job to work on their startup.

The concept and the writing of the series are fantastic. The dialogues are perfect, and the acting is amazingly well from all of the characters. The only thing that I felt like a downfall is the ending. The story ends with a typical Bollywood like happy ending that seems a bit cliché. But apart from them, it is a great Indian web series.

Bose Dead/Alive

Bose Dead/Alive is a historical period drama based on the mysterious death of Subhash Chandra Bose. It is a well-crafted show with great cinematography and acting. Even it has won over 10 awards, including the Best Digital Series of 2017.

Rajkumar Rao, as Subhash Chandra Bose, nailed at acting and his character, just don’t let you your eyes off for even a second. If you are a history buff or just a fan of Subhash Chandra Bose, then it is a must-watch for you.

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice is another crime thriller on our list. It is based on Peter Moffat’s book called Criminal Justice. It is the remake of the famous HBO series, The Night Of. The story starts with a cabbie who got a one night stand with a girl. Everything goes pretty well until the girl ends up dead after.

The main story starts after that, where the cabbie fights to prove he’s not guilty and later realizes that he have to accept his fate. The story moves around him and how he evolves to survive in jail. It is definitely a must-watch. The acting, cinematography, and unsettling story with a bit of suspense let you connected.

Final Words

Indians are moving from Suraj Barjatiya’s melodrama to some better raw content, and web series are providing them that. The rawness of the content, no shitty censor cut issue and excellent quality content are the main reason behind the success of web series in India. People started loving the detailed content offered in the web series more because it holds you and lets you connect with that world, and that is something the majority of Bollywood movies lack.

These are my favorite Hindi Web Series of all time. I hope it was a helpful article for you. If you think I missed someone, then share that one in the comment section below and I will try to add them in the list as well.
